Mr. A.K.M. Shaheed Reza is a reputed businessman and entrepreneur of the country. He has a diversified business portfolio and established himself as a prominent business individual in the field of Textile and Apparel Industry. With new zeal for creation he has also spread his steps into the arena of mass media. He has taken initiatives to emphasis on social services and develop compassionate work for the society. His desire is to extend financial support for the poor meritorious students and educational institutions.
He is the Chairman of Reza Group, Sponsor Director of Mercantile Bank Limited, Sole proprietor of Bangla Radio FM 95.2, Director of National Credit Rating and Director of reputed English newspaper “The Daily Observer”. Former Director of The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Chairman of Mercantile Bank Limited and previously worked efficiently as the Chairman of Global Insurance Limited. He has been declared CIP by the Ministry of Commerce, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
Mr. Reza is moreover associated with many other educational and social institutions. He is the Chairman of Managing Committee of Dholia High School, Bagerhat High School and Thakurhat Govt. Primary School, Feni. He is also the Founder of Progati Balika Bidda Nikaton & Nurul Rownak Diabetics Center, Rajnagor, Shimul IT Training Center and Shimul Sports Academy, Feni. He is president of Diabetic Association Feni, Senior vice president of Heart Foundation Feni and Trustee vice president of Feni University.
He has developed strong trade acumen due to 25 years of experience in diverse business fields. He is highly considered in the industry as a business professional with remarkable success in corporate business management, having profound knowledge on Apparel & Textile and willing to set new businesses to drive the economy forward.
Mr. A.K.M. Shaheed Reza, after completion of Post-Graduation degree in Management, started his career as a Banker in 1986. However, his willingness to grow did not allow him to confine himself in the service sector. Eventually, he left the job in 1993 and started his journey as a business entrepreneur. During this short period, he proved himself and established a successful business conglomerate in the country.
Besides, he continued study and research work on corporate Governance in banking sector to identify fit falls of prevailing practices for effective functioning of good corporate Governance. After long studies and research works since 2010, Jahangirnagar University awarded degree of Doctor of Philosopy (Ph.D) in the year 2023 on corporate Governance in banking sector with special reference to private commercial banks of Bangladesh.
